Experience
An honors student at UNLV, biology major, and journalism minor, I tutor in writing, composing, editing, the sciences, algebra and elementary math, English, and Spanish as well as public speaking. As much as I enjoy learning, I enjoy teaching even more. I believe that being able to teach someone else something means that you've mastered that material. My philosophy, therefore, includes having my students comprehend their studies and develop abilities by explaining their subjects. I also focus on their interests in the tutoring session. It is important for a student to like what they're learning and this makes the learning and tutoring experience all that more enjoyable. I include real world examples to infuse relevance.My background includes four years in the Speech and Debate team, including two years as assistant coach. I expanded my abilities as a mentor during that time and have helped students from diverse backgrounds/ learning styles. The experience also helped build my writing and composition skills. I also took part in Science Olympiad and other science competitions. Another love of mine is medicine and I am now pursuing a degree in this field. In my spare time, I also enjoy watching movies, reading, hiking, and cooking.
